Medical University of Innsbruck (MUI) was founded in 2004 as an offspring of Leopold Franzens University (LFU) with the split-up of its medical faculty. It presently has 3,800 students and is located directly in the center of the Austrian Alps. MUI provides the coordinator of CORVOS, Reinhard Würzner and a second Faculty Member (FM), Doris Wilflingseder.
The University of Lübeck (UzL) is located in the north of Germany and focuses almost entirely on medicine and medical sciences. In 2006, 2009 and 2016, the UzL was ranked No. 1 in medicine among all universities in Germany/Austria/ Switzerland. UzL provides two FMs: Jörg Köhl and Stefan Niemann.
Research Center Borstel (RCB) is a Leibniz Lung Center focusing on Infectious Diseases, Asthma and Allergies and in particular on tuberculosis (TB). Basic TB research comprises structural biology and genome research of clinical isolates, as well as infection biology and immunology using cell and animal models and recombinant M. tuberculosis complex. The FMs Christoph Hölscher and Stefan Niemann are representing RCB in the CORVOS consortium.
The Humanitas University (HUNIMED) is located in Milano/Italy and dedicated to basic and translational research in life sciences. Translational studies are carried out in tight collaboration with the Humanitas Research Hospital, a 750-bed hospital devoted to clinical research mainly in the context of immune-related diseases. Cecilia Garlanda is the CORVOS FM from HUNIMED.
Lund University (LU) was founded as one of Northern Europe’s oldest universities in 1666 next to Lund cathedral in the south of Sweden. LU is ranked consistently among the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings®. LU has 8 faculties and approx. 41,000 students. Anna Blom is representing LU as FM of CORVOS.
Utrecht University (UU) has an enrollment of 31,000 students and is the best university in the Netherlands, 14th best in Europe and 51st best in the world, according to the ‘Shanghai ranking’. Utrecht also harbors the University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU) which is part of an international network of top scientists, among them: Suzan Rooijakkers – CORVOS FM.
The University of Helsinki (HY) was founded in 1640 as the Royal Academy of Åbo in the south of Finland. It is rated worldwide as 56th on the ‘Shanghai ranking’. Around 36.500 students are currently enrolled, 2000 in the Medical Faculty with 1500 teachers. HY provides Seppo Meri as CORVOS FM, who will supervise two students.
The Sorbonne University Paris was created by fusion of the Pierre and Marie Curie University and the Paris-Sorbonne University. It has 55600 undergraduate students and 4500 PhD students currently enrolled. The Cordeliers Research Center, under the supervision of INSERM and Sorbonne University, is one of the leading institutions in France, working on physiology, pathophysiology, immunology and cancer. It consists of 450 scientists in 16 research teams. Veronique Frémeaux-Bacchi is our CORVOS FM from France.
The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is the largest research and education institution in Denmark with more than 40.000 students enrolled. UCPH is ranked 1st in the Nordic countries and 22nd in Europe according to the ‘QS World University Rankings’ 2017. The university’s international outlook is reflected by its active membership of the ‘International Alliance of Research Universities’ and ‘League of European Research Universities’. Region Hovedstaden (RegionH) is a non-academic, non-profit public hospital consortium with 40.000 full time employees. Peter Garred is a research group leader in the Rigshospitalet and represents a further CORVOS FM.
The University of Oslo (UiO) is the largest Norwegian institution of higher education and is rated worldwide as 62nd on the ‘Shanghai ranking’ list. It has all major academic faculties and 27.700 students. The Department of Immunology is a spearhead at the UiO with several centers of excellence. One of the research groups is headed by the CORVOS FM Tom Eirik Mollnes.
The Semmelweis University (SE) was established in 1752 in Budapest as the oldest medical school in Hungary and has 250 years of experience in training doctors and medical professionals for their careers. The University was named after Ignác Semmelweis, the obstetrician who discovered the cause and prevention of puerperal fever in the 1840s. SE provides Zoltán Prohászka as CORVOS FM. 

 

Hycult Biotechology (HB) is a world-class manufacturer of research reagents, in particular related to complement and has extensive knowledge in development and production of assays, antibodies and proteins. HB has built a strong network with >40 scientific collaborations with leading international institutes. Within CORVOS, HB offers both, an extended industry research secondment, as well as entrepreneurship training to 3 ESRs.
Merck & Co (NYSE: MRK), outside US known as MSD, is one of the five largest biopharmaceutical companies globally and its corporates' mission is to discover, develop and provide innovative products and services that save and improve lives around the world. MSD Finland's core therapeutic areas are oncology, immunology, infectious and cardiovascular diseases. MSD offers an extended industry research secondment to 1 ESR and an entrepreneurship training to 4 ESRs.
SVAR Life Science’s (SLS) goal is to constantly develop solutions to aid clinicians in diagnosis, prognosis, monitoring and treatment of inflammatory diseases. SLS provides a large portfolio of kits, laboratory and OEM/custom manufacturing services as well as drug monitoring and customised assay development for quantitation of biological activity in various biological and biosimilar drugs. SLS offers an extended industry research secondment to 2 ESRs and an entrepreneurship training to 3 ESRs.
Statens Serum Institut (SSI) is a Public Health Institution under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Health. Main duties are to ensure preparedness against infectious diseases and biological threats as well as control of congenital disorders. SSI offers an extended industry research secondment to 1 ESR and an entrepreneurship training to 2 ESRs.
The Research Center Borstel also has a clinic - RCB-clinic, specialized in internal medicine with a focus on pneumology and infectiology. The RCB-clinic offers interactive clinical training secondments on the ward, in diagnostic labs and Mycobacteria Reference Center for 5 ESRs. 
HUS - The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa - is a joint authority formed by 24 municipalities and is Finland’s largest provider of healthcare services and second largest employer with a highly ranked international expertise. Every year, half a million patients are treated at the 22 HUS hospitals. Functioning as part of HUS, Helsinki University Hospital is nationally responsible for treating severe and rare illnesses and ones calling for special expertise and technology. Hospitals in the HUS area are teaching hospitals, where 5,000 healthcare students receive training each year. HUS conducts approximately two thousand different medical and health care research projects. HUS offers interactive clinical training secondments on the ward and in diagnostic labs for 4 ESRs.
Tirol Kliniken (TK) consists of 3 hospitals of which the Innsbruck university hospital with 1600 beds is one of the biggest hospitals in Austria, offering all disciplines and among these five internal medicine divisions. “Internal Medicine II” is devoted to Infectious Diseases, Immunology, Pneumology and Rheumatology. TK offers interactive clinical training secondments on the ward and in diagnostic labs for 6 ESRs.
